Embassy West Homeland Security Services & Equipment

General mail account info

Embassy West provides you with an email account but your ISP (Internet Service Provider) provides you with the access to your account and your Mail Client (the program that you use to read and write email) provides you with the door to that access. We can help you with your email account to a certain degree but since there are many ISP's and several popular Mail Clients, we won't have all the answers for your particular situation.
Webmail
Webmail: https://embassywest.com:2096/
Your username is your email address (i.e. info@embassywest.com)
Your password is known only by you for security purposes. If you have forgotten it, please email and we will reset it for you.
Outlook Express
If you use Outlook Express please consult the Microsoft website for documentation and support.: setup information
Netscape

Before you set up a mail account, you need to know the following information:

  • Your user name (this is your email address, for example info@embassywest.com)
  • Your email address (for example info@embassywest.com)
  • The incoming and outgoing mail server names (for most dial-up connections it will be mail.embassywest.com for incoming and mail.embassywest.com for outgoing. If you have cable you will have to contact your cable company to find out the settings to use.)
  • The incoming server type (POP)

The following is the exact sequence needed to set-up your email account using Netscape Mail.

  • FILE
  • ACCOUNT
  • EMAIL ACCOUNT > Next
  • Your Name: (Put the name you want to show up in emails that are from you)
  • Email Address: (for example info@embassywest.com) > Next
  • POP
  • Incoming Server: (mail.embassywest.com or whatever your cable, dsl or satellite ISP provider requires)
  • Outgoing Server: (mail.embassywest.com or whatever your cable, dsl or satellite ISP provider requires) >Next
  • Username: (we use your email address as your username so for this example it would be info@embassywest.com) >Next
  • Account Name: (This is whatever name you wish to call it so that you can identify it. It defaults to your username. For this example we'll call the mail account Info Mail) > Next
  • The next screen will show you the choices you made and ask you to verify that they are all correct. Check the box to download your messages now and if all is correct, click on Finish to complete setting up your email account.

If you are online while setting up the account, Netscape will automatically log in and download any messages you may have. Test your account now to make sure everything works. If you are having problems email for help.

Note: You need to specify only one outgoing mail server (SMTP), even if you have several mail accounts. The name of your SMTP host may not have been explicitly listed in the account setup information provided to you. For example, your SMTP host may be the same as your POP or IMAP host. If in doubt, contact your ISP or system administrator.

You can download a free copy of Netscape at http://channels.netscape.com/ns/browsers/default.jsp.
Mozilla is another browser that uses the same protocols as Netscape that these instructions should work with.
