William Spargo

Photo of William SpargoWilliam "Sparky" Spargo is a man of many facets. His professional experience is extensive and diverse. His dedication and pride is obvious in everything he does.

Sparky has always had an interest in anything automotive and mechanical. He entered the United States Army at the age of 17, trained and shipped out to Vietnam as a heavy equipment and motor mechanic.  He served his country with pride and dedication for about 6 years, reaching the rank of Staff Sergeant. Following two tours in Southeast Asia, he returned to the U.S. and entered the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Academy.

Sparky graduated the LASD academy in May 1970 and was assigned to the Los Angeles County Jail. During his assignment there, was a member of the detail formed to escort mass murderer Charles Manson, during his trial and pre-conviction incarceration.

Having served with distinction in the jail system, he was transferred to street patrol for the Sheriff’s Department in Carson, California. Subsequently working out of the San Dimas Substation, his life would take a new direction.  Sparky was shot in the neck during the apprehension of a suspect.

During the next two years, Sparky met the love of his life and added a son, beginning his family. Following his recovery from the line-of-duty shooting injury, he was honorably retired from the Sheriff’s Department in 1977 and revisited his passion for auto restoration.  Sparky operated a classic car shop in Pomona, California and for a couple of years, worked on special projects for clients restoring vintage automobiles.

1986 found Sparky and family moving to Virginia City Nevada, where several companies sought his automotive talents. At the same time, a new addition to the family in the way of a daughter would be a special highlight.

With this development, Sparky turned his professional life back to law enforcement. It was during this time, that he met Frank Wilson and that friendship would grow into a business. Frank and Sparky started NEVS (Nevada Emergency Vehicle Service). After several years of building a profitable business, they accepted an offer from a regional California company to sell NEVS.

Sparky (an avid fisherman) moved to Idaho where he could ply his amazing fishing skills. After about 7 years, a phone call and visit from Frank Wilson in Las Vegas would facilitate a move to Southern Nevada and the rekindling of a business relationship.

In 2005 Sparky and Frank again joined forces in Boulder City, Nevada, where Extreme 911 was born and lives today.

Sparky attended Welding and Metal Fabrication classes and is self taught and skilled as a master craftsman in numerous subjects that interest him. He is an automotive engineering genius and is second-to-none in design and fabrication.
